Overview

While personal branding isn't a new concept, there's still a lot of uncertainty about how to establish and sustain one effectively. In this course on social and emotional skills for educators, you'll learn to identify and manage your own emotions to better assist students with theirs. In the introductory week, you'll explore how emotions influence attention, decision-making, relationships, health, and performance. Next, you'll use the Mood Meter to recognize and label emotions, building a foundation for emotional intelligence. You'll then apply "action strategies" to manage emotions healthily, followed by "thought strategies" to shift thinking and feelings. The course covers scientific and culturally responsive emotion management, addressing biases. You'll enhance awareness of others' emotions and learn emotion co-regulation to support students in high-stress moments. The final section consolidates your action plans for lasting change.
